When Serge Savard speaks, people listen, and he still carries a lot of weight today. However, this doesn't prevent him from being wrong occasionally, and it has happened recently.

Indeed, in recent weeks, the former star and general manager of the Canadiens mentioned that he would like the Canadiens to be bigger, saying there are too many small players.

According to him, it is with more guys like Juraj Slafkovsky that the CH will win a Stanley Cup. He also took a slight jab at Cole Caufield, who did not impress him last year.

According to a report by the reliable site Elite Prospect, the Canadiens, for the upcoming season, would be the 5th heaviest team in the NHL with an average weight of 201 lbs.

They are tied with six other teams at 201 lbs. The Bruins are the heaviest with an average of 207 lbs.

This shows that, even though the Canadiens have a small player like Cole Caufield and Lane Hutson is also of small stature, they have an interesting average size.

Players like Juraj Slafkovsky, Arber Xhekaj, and even Nick Suzuki, who is very solid at 5'11" and 212 lbs, nicely complement the smaller players, creating a good mix of skill and weight.

Let's not forget Florian Xhekaj (6'4" 190 lbs), David Reinbacher (6'3" 209 lbs), and Logan Mailloux (6'3" 220 lbs) who will be arriving very soon and are far from physically mature.

As mentioned above: the aim is not to target Mr. Savard or disparage him, as his opinion is always very interesting, but I believe we need to look at the Canadiens with a fresh perspective. The team has been among the smallest in the NHL for years, but that is no longer the case.
