We can understand that spending a year without playing can have an impact on the Canadiens forward's game and that hockey fans will certainly be patient with number 77.
However, as the site Danslescoulisses.com reports, this is not the case for Simon Boisvert.
The man we nicknamed The Snake made a somewhat worrying statement regarding the future of Kirby Dach with the Montreal Canadiens.
During an exclusive excerpt from the next episode of the Process podcast shared by the Athletic Commission's X account, Boisvert told Mathias Brunet that he would pull the plug with Kirby Dach .
Basically, if he were in Kent Hughes' place, Boisvert would take the opportunity to trade the former first pick to the Chicago Blackhawks in 2019 while he still has value.
However, there is a distinction between pulling the plug and giving up in the case of Kirby Dach. His potential is still excellent and we remember that he is only 23 years old.
But Boisvert mentioned that he would take the risk of trading him before his value fell to zero and he also made a comparison with the case of Nolan Patrick.
The latter saw his career destroyed by injuries and four years after his selection second overall by the Philadelphia Flyers, he was traded for a pittance.
That said, it's still way too early to hit the panic button on Kirby Dach, but we have to admit that if Kent Hughes ever wanted to trade him and get something interesting in return, he needs to start putting points on the scoreboard more often.
