Sudden departure of Martin St-Louis: A wave of love that demonstrates the great class of Canadiens fans
When a player doesn't do the right things wearing the Canadiens uniform, he knows it instantly. The 22,000 fans at the Bell Centre don't hesitate to let him know, and it's even worse on social media.
Conversely, when a player performs well, the crowd rises and cheers him on as a hero. I think of Alex Kovalev, who was a true star in Montreal.
But sometimes, events are stronger than hockey or what we think of a member of the organization. Martin St-Louis is greatly appreciated, yes, but beyond that, the people of Montreal and Canadiens fans as a whole are good and sensitive people.
The wave of love that Martin has received since yesterday is simply incredible. Tens of thousands of CH fans and fans from all over the NHL are showing their support.
Here are some testimonials gathered by TVA Sports:
"We wish him to take time for himself. The season must not have been easy."
"I wish him to take care of his family above all and to come back on good footing, so that he takes the time to take care of the people who are important to him."
"I wish him to take the time he needs. Family is more important, but I'm not worried about the Canadiens. They're a big family: they'll take care of him."
Messages like these abound. For that, I say thank you! Thank you to the fans. It's heartwarming to see all this wave of love and how in these kinds of moments, we are able to come together.
I don't know what Martin is going through right now. He is by his son's bedside at the moment, and that's all that matters. However, I'm sure he appreciates all this wave of love, and so does his family. They need it, and the fans of the Montreal Canadiens have shown up.
Well done!
