The former captain of the Canadiens, Shea Weber, to go down in history
During the Montreal Canadiens' 2021 Stanley Cup Final, the captain and pillar of the team was Shea Weber. Since then, he hasn't played, but he's still active.
Indeed, Weber is under contract until 2026 and he hasn't announced his retirement, which is obviously normal. Traded by the Canadiens to the Golden Knights, and then to the Coyotes, Shea will go down in history.
In fact, the famous number 6 will be the first official member of the Salt Lake City team, as well as the first member of this new organization to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Weber may not have played any games, but he will have in a way belonged to the franchise.
"Just realized that Shea Weber's contract now belongs to Utah and that he potentially will be the first player in franchise history to make the Hall of Fame."
- Greg Wyshynski, ESPN
It's quite special when you think about it! Weber will likely sign a one-day contract with the Nashville Predators to finish his career, but he will have been with the team in Utah.
