Let's just say that the last preseason games have probably accentuated this desire in Kent Hughes.
The Habs could take advantage of a little troublemaker available on waivers, namely Claude Lemieux's son.
Brendan Lemieux was just given up on waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes.
He hasn't played a single game this season with Rod Brind'Amour's squad. In his NHL career, Lemieux has played 307 games, collecting 74 points and 548 penalty minutes.
Aged 28, the left winger has played for the Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers.
Could he be the solution for the Habs? The question is, but the fact that he is the son of a former Canadiens player could perhaps make Hughes want to claim him. Or not.
Brendan Lemieux is not alone on waivers. He is accompanied by the 60th overall pick in 2016 by the San Jose Sharks, Dylan Gambrell. In 233 NHL games, Gambrell has collected 40 points.
Having played full-time with the Toronto Marlies last season, collecting 36 points in 66 games, Gambrell had signed a deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets, but they unfortunately found that he was no better than the AHL.
