The Montreal Canadiens organization has issued a statement announcing the sad passing of former defenseman Jean-Guy Talbot.

"The Canadiens are saddened to learn of the passing of Jean-Guy Talbot.

Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to the Talbot family during this difficult time." - Montreal Canadiens

It's never good news. Jean-Guy played 13 seasons with the Canadiens, winning 7 Stanley Cups along the way. He was 91 years old.

"MONTREAL - It is with great sadness that the Montreal Canadiens organization has learned of the passing of former defenseman Jean-Guy Talbot.

Born in 1932, Talbot, a native of Cap-de-la-Madeleine, began his NHL career with the Canadiens in 1954-55, appearing in three games. He would go on to play a dozen more seasons with the Habs and become one of 12 players to win the Stanley Cup in five consecutive seasons from 1956 to 1960. Talbot won the Cup two more times with Montreal in 1965 and 1966." - Montreal Canadiens

Certainly, the Canadiens will undoubtedly observe a moment of silence in his memory at the next game at the Bell Centre. May he rest in peace.

Our condolences to his family and friends, as well as to all members of the extended Canadiens family.
