Trevor Zegras with the Canadiens: «Don't overlook such a talented player»
The rumors surrounding Trevor Zegras and the Canadiens aren't new, and several clues suggest that his arrival in Montreal is indeed possible.
For instance, seeing Zegras and Martin St. Louis at the gym together, his close friendship with Cole Caufield, and reports from various insiders confirming that Kent Hughes is discussing the matter with Pat Verbeek in Anaheim, all point to significant developments in this situation.
There's something brewing, and if it doesn't materialize, it certainly came close.
The Canadiens can't afford to overlook such blatant talent
Former Ducks scout Alain Chainey is cautioning the Canadiens. He has reliable sources and isn't saying this lightly.
According to Chainey, Montreal cannot afford to let him slip away and must pay the price.
"Put him on the power play with the Canadiens, Zegras, do you think he won't be good?! [...] The talent just oozes from him. He moves the puck, has exceptional vision. On the power play in Montreal, he'd be dishing it out on a platter, for sure. You'd have Nick Suzuki and Zegras, that would be something to watch."
- Alain Chainey Although Chainey didn't draft Zegras and hasn't worked for the Ducks since 2012, he still has contacts there and closely follows the team.
According to him, Zegras possesses extraordinary raw talent, and with maturity, he will become an equally exceptional player.
