David Reinbacher was seriously injured, so much that he will miss almost the entire season. It's really disastrous for his development, even if it doesn't change anything for the Canadiens, while he was going to play for the Laval Rocket.
The first major injury could well be announced in the next few hours, as Michael Matheson, the team's number one defenseman, had to leave Thursday night's game and he will not return to the game.
Michael Matheson has had his best moments in his career since joining the Canadiens in the summer of 2022. Last season, he had an impressive 62 points in 82 games.
He is still off to a good start with 3 assists in 4 games this year, but he will clearly have to be slowed down by an injury.
Kaiden Guhle therefore becomes the obvious choice to take his place, and Lane Hutson will have his chance to play on the first wave of the power play, if of course Michael Matheson has to be absent during the next games.
Jayden Struble should also be back in the game, if Matheson cannot play the next game. We will also see if the Canadiens will call up anyone from Laval, and who will be the recalled player.
Logan Mailloux had a great first game with the Rocket, so he would certainly deserve a little call. Let's wait to have the verdict on Michael Matheson first.
An injury for Mike Matheson
