The Canadiens host the Los Angeles Kings tonight at the Bell Centre.

For the Kings, this is the last game of their five-game road streak and after a win over the Buffalo Sabres, the Kings have lost their last three games, including a veritable 8-7 offensive fest against the Ottawa Senators last Monday.

That said, you may have forgotten but a former Canadiens defenseman is now playing for the Kings, a certain Joel Edmundson, while the latter wore the colors of the tricolore for three years between 2020 and 2023.

After a first season, where he was one of the pillars of the Canadiens defense during the improbable run to the final in 2021, Edmundson was bothered by all sorts of injuries and he was finally traded to the Washington Capitals in the summer of 2023.

But unfortunately for Canadiens fans who would have liked to see the former number 44 in uniform for tonight's game, you may be disappointed.

As reported by the site Habsolumentfan.com, Joel Edmundson had to leave the Kings' entourage for family reasons and is no longer part of their lineup.

At least that's what journalist Dennis Bernstein mentioned via his X account and we also learned that goalie Darcy Kuemper, acquired from the Capitals last summer in return for Pierre-Luc Dubois, is suffering from an injury and that goalie Phoenix Copley has been recalled from the American League farm club.

Since the start of the season, Joel Edmundson has collected one assist in three games with his new team.
