Confirmation very surprising of Lou Lamoriello and Patrick Roy
The management of goaltenders by Patrick Roy sparked a lot of reaction during the playoffs, across the NHL. Some even wondered if he would lose his job.
Recall that Roy chose 35-year-old veteran Semyon Varlamov over star goalie Ilya Sorokin. And when Sorokin was used, he was quickly pulled from the game after allowing three goals.
However, with a record of 20-12-5 to finish the regular season, Roy has more than earned the trust of the organization, and this was confirmed by Lou Lamoriello.
What is surprising is that Lamoriello is returning once again as general manager next season. At 82 years old, he confirmed another season.
"Lou Lamoriello announces he will be back next season. He says that does for Patrick Roy too." - Andrew Gross
Despite his inactivity at the trade deadline, good old Lou still has some gas in the tank and the blessing of his bosses.
However, he will have a lot of work to do to help Patrick Roy lead the team to the playoffs again next year. Roy is a great coach, but he clearly needs assistance.
