Plot twist for the Islanders: Patrick Roy forces GM Lou Lamoriello to believe he was right to hire him
The media impact of Patrick Roy's hiring by the Islanders was expected to be strong, and that's exactly what happened. Performance-wise, however, it wasn't as instantaneous.
The Islanders were out of the playoff picture and Casseau was pulling his hair out, having even been forced to put his players through a punishing workout.
In short, he didn't hesitate to do what it took to get results, and it's starting to pay off. The Isles have won 6 games in a row and are now within two points of a playoff spot, despite losing their last duel.
They're simply on fire, and the Patrick Roy effect is being felt all over Long Island. The players have bought into his plan and are executing it very well.
It's a big turnaround and we really hope it continues!
