Daniel Brière is facing his fair share of challenges since taking over as the general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers. The former GM had left the organization in disarray, and dealing with the Cutter Gauthier case and the scandal involving Carter Hart must not have been easy tasks to handle.

Nevertheless, it must be acknowledged that he's been doing an excellent job, as against all odds, his team is still in the playoff picture. He has also completed significant transactions, including the one sending Sean Walker to Colorado.

However, he got the short end of the stick in this exchange. In return, the Flyers acquired Ryan Johansen and a first-round pick in 2025. The plan for Johansen was to send him to the American Hockey League, but that's not possible.

Indeed, Johansen arrived with a back injury, which had not been mentioned during the transaction.

"He claimed to be injured when we traded for him, so we had him see the doctors. They found an injury, so now he's going to be rehabbing. You can't send down a player who's injured, so he's going to be doing rehab until we don't know when. So, he's back on our roster doing rehab and trying to get better." - Daniel Brière

For the Flyers, this blocks a spot in the lineup, which is a problem. The doctors genuinely detected an injury, so it can't be assumed to be the player's bad faith.

I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but one thing is certain, this isn't the kind of situation that will enhance the Avalanche's reputation in the eyes of other teams.
