It's now confirmed for Auston Matthews and the Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs will try to extend their season tonight as they face the Boston Bruins in a must-win game. Auston Matthews missed the last game, and it was uncertain whether he would be available for the 6th match.
The disaster is now confirmed, and the Leafs' top player will once again have to sit out.
"Sheldon Keefe on Auston Matthews:
"Auston won't be available tonight"
Matthews will miss the 6th game."
- Via Patrick Friolet, RDS
This is a significant blow for the Leafs and a heavy loss. They managed to win the last game without him, but to be honest, it will be difficult to win another one tonight.
John Tavares, Mitch Marner, William Nylander, and company will have to step up their game, and it's the perfect moment for goaltender Joseph Woll to steal a game.
The Maple Leafs are playing for high stakes right now, much more than just their 2024 playoffs. Coach Sheldon Keefe's job is on the line, and so are several players.
Despite their best player not being in uniform, they will have to give it their all to avoid being once again on vacation after the first round.
Furthermore, the Bruins were eliminated last year after leading 3-1, just like this year. They will arrive hungry tonight, for sure, to avoid a repeat scenario.
