Horrible end to the match between the Laval Rocket and the Utica Comets
The end of the match between the Rocket de Laval and the Utica Comets was marked by a dramatic accident when young forward Filip Engaras crashed violently against the boards.
Following a slight contact with Zack Hayes, Engaras unfortunately fell in a worrying manner, without the situation involving any reckless action.
This sad accident reminds us that hockey can quickly turn tragic, even without dangerous actions.
Filip Engaras was carried off on a stretcher as his teammates and the crowd looked on, while goalkeeper Jakub Dobes reacted quickly by approaching to offer his support.

It's scary. Filip Engaras was transported on a stretcher after this blow. Zack Hayes made slight contact, but the fall into the strip was extremely violent.

Terrifying moment. The stretcher had to be removed after the Comets' Filip Engaras hit the boards. It was absolutely horrible to see.
- Kristy Flannery
At just 25, Engaras is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect selected in the sixth round by the Edmonton Oilers in 2020.
It was his fifth game of the season with the Comets, the New Jersey Devils' farm club.
At 10:08 p.m. last night, the team wrote this on X:
«Filip was alert when he was taken off the ice and is currently being evaluated by medical staff in Laval. More information will follow as it becomes available. »
We send all our positive thoughts to Filip Engaras and his family, hoping that he recovers quickly from this dramatic accident.
