Everyone makes a bad prediction now and then. No one can predict the future, so sometimes we get little surprises, like the Oilers' victory over the Stars.

Renaud Lavoie had predicted a win for the Stars, like many others. The difference is that his comments sparked a reaction because he outright gave the series to Dallas.

Indeed, before the matchup, here's what he mentioned:

"In reality, there are six teams that are true contenders and can dream of winning the Stanley Cup. [...] Unfortunately, three high-caliber teams were eliminated when the Lightning were ousted by the Panthers. The Avalanche and the Golden Knights couldn't withstand the Stars, who are almost guaranteed to play in the final." - Renaud Lavoie

We know what happened next, as Connor McDavid's team won the series in six games, on their way to the Stanley Cup Final.

They only need four more wins to bring the Cup back to Canada, something that hasn't been done since 1993. And if there's one player who can do it, it's the Oilers' captain.

As for Renaud Lavoie, the rest of his analysis made a lot of sense, especially his comments on the Panthers-Rangers matchup.

However, he'll need to be more careful in the future not to guarantee a victory for a team as he did with the Stars.
