National anthem mishap: singer Ingrid Andress breaks her silence and it shocks
Monday night hosted the traditional and highly popular MLB Home Run Derby, a major event that receives extensive media coverage.
However, it wasn't the contest itself that drew attention but rather the poor performance of singer Ingrid Andress, who sang the national anthem.
It was truly terrible and went viral on the web within minutes. People utterly lambasted her online. It was the kind of performance that can destroy a career.
Today, the singer decided to break her silence, admitting that she was drunk. From what she mentioned, she is very likely an alcoholic.
"I'm not gonna bullshit y'all, I was drunk last night. I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night.
I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I'll let y'all know how rehab is I hear it's super fun.
xo, Ingrid."

It takes a lot of courage to come out and be as transparent as she was the day after such a horrible performance. Regardless of what is said about her, we can at least give her that.
Let's hope that this courage translates into her intentions to overcome her illness of alcoholism and that she takes back control of her life and career.
