The Laval Rocket put in a great performance in the afternoon, winning 6-3 against the Providence Bruins. This victory, the eighth of the season, allows Pascal Vincent's team to keep the lead in the North Division.
Who said Pascal Vincent wasn't good with the youngsters?
The hero of this match was without a doubt Joshua Roy.
With three goals, including one in an empty net, he led his team to victory. Roy opened the scoring for Laval before doubling the lead, a decisive goal that turned out to be the winning goal.
With ten points in nine games this season, he's becoming a prime candidate for a recall to Montreal, especially since the Canadiens could benefit from his youth and dynamism.
Truth be told, if he didn't force the organization's hand today, it's off the ice that it's happening, in his case.
At the same time, Connor Hughes shone in goal, stopping 27 of 30 shots for his second win against Providence in as many days.
The young goalie is emerging as a solid asset in the absence of Jakub Dobes.
Hughes is such a revelation at the start of the AHL season. In four games, he maintained a goals-against average of 1.54 and a save percentage of .945.
Clearly, he could be a very interesting solution, internally, for the future of the Canadiens.
