MAJOR: Cole Caufield sets a very impressive record in the history of the Montreal Canadiens
The least we can say is that Cole Caufield is a man for the big moments. During Saturday night's game, he was all over the ice. He was particularly strong in his one-on-one battles and even delivered some solid hits.
However, what characterizes the young forward best is his ability to score goals, especially very important ones. Once again, he netted the game-winner in overtime with a simply perfect shot, marking his 3rd of the year.
It was already his 5th overtime-winning goal in just 127 games played. He has, therefore, become the fastest in the history of the Canadiens to achieve this milestone.
"Cole Caufield (127 career GP)
Fastest player in Canadiens history to score 5 career OT goals"
It's remarkable to think that he slipped to the 15th overall pick in 2019. If we were to redo the draft today, he would undoubtedly be a top-5 selection, and the Canadiens wouldn't have had the opportunity to get him.
It's truly an achievement, especially when you consider the names like Maurice Richard, Guy Lafleur, and many others who were drafted ahead of him.
