Since Carey Price is unofficially retired, there has been talk about the need for a future goaltender for the Canadiens. Samuel Montembeault is currently there, but he doesn't have 15 more years of hockey to give, and he doesn't fit the typical profile of a dominant NHL starting goaltender.

Many experts and fans would like Kent Hughes to acquire Yaroslav Askarov or Spencer Knight, but the organization already has a promising young talent.

Jacob Fowler has just started playing in the NCAA, but his stats are very impressive. In six games in October, he recorded five wins with a 2.15 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.

Not only is he excelling for a rookie, but he's outperforming all other goalies in his league to the point that he was named the goaltender of the month.

Fowler has been the starter for his team, even though he's fresh out of the American development program. The gap between the two leagues is substantial, but not for him; he's even better.

If he continues on this trajectory, he could turn out to be a steal in the 2023 draft.
