Trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Bruins involving forward Sean Monahan: It has just been mentioned
The Canadiens got lucky with the signing of Sean Monahan. As we know, when this player is healthy, he is simply dominant on the ice. Not only does he contribute points on the scoreboard, but he also excels in face-offs and makes the whole team better in all situations.
If he remains healthy, with his salary of 1.9 million, he will be in high demand at the trade deadline. Kent Hughes will have a tough decision to make, whether to offer him a contract extension or make him available for a trade.
Among the teams that could be interested, the Boston Bruins are at the top of the list. After losing Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, they will be in desperate need of a top center for the playoffs, even though the team is surprising a lot in the early part of the season.
According to Rob Couch, Don Sweeney will certainly give Kent Hughes a call. Personally, I wouldn't trade Monahan, especially not to the Bruins. Regardless of the team looking to acquire him, even if they offer a first-round pick in return, it will likely be a late selection and not worth it for a player of his caliber.
Unless the return is too good to refuse, Kent Hughes should offer a contract extension to number 91.
