It's often said that coming back from a long road trip is not easy for a hockey team. Clearly, the Canadiens players lacked energy in the late stages of the game.
The score was tight after two periods, and the first five minutes of the third were in favor of the home team. However, Quinn's goal was a significant blow, and the team then collapsed.
It's sad, but the final score of 6-1 doesn't accurately reflect the course of the game. Players just seem unable to score when Jake Allen is in the net, for reasons unknown.
In the defeat, Juraj Slafkovsky still stood out, especially with plays like this. He is very exhausting for his opponents in the forecheck.
The Slovak also executed two deflection shots that reached the net on the power play. It's a weapon he doesn't use often enough and could create more space for Cole Caufield if it eventually works.
His progression is remarkable. It started with his defensive play, then his forechecking and involvement along the boards, followed by more interesting production. Now, he's starting to shoot more, all in just over a month.
In two or three years, if he continues like this, Slafkovsky will undoubtedly be feared in every arena in the league.
