Logan Mailloux is making headlines for the right reasons, and it's very reassuring
Earlier in the season, we were disappointed to see Logan Mailloux be assigned to the Laval Rocket, but we knew it was good for his development. With what he demonstrated in training camp, there's no doubt he'll be quite a player in the NHL.
Jean-François Houle is doing a good job helping young players progress enough to earn their place in the NHL, and Mailloux is no exception.
"On December 10th, Logan Mailloux is:
3rd highest scorer among rookie defensemen in the American Hockey League.
3rd in points for the Rocket.
His 4 goals were scored at even strength.
2nd (rookie defensemen) in the AHL for the number of shots on goal."
- Anthony Martineau
Despite the Rocket's rough start to the season, these numbers are quite exceptional. Mailloux is flirting with the elite among rookie defensemen in the American Hockey League, not to mention his physical play, which is also quite notable.
Playing significant minutes down there was probably the best thing that could have happened to him, especially under Houle's guidance.
