Trevor Zegras to Montreal: An important factor comes to hinder Kent Hughes
For reasons well known, Trevor Zegras may not be with the Ducks by the end of his contract in two years. Pat Verbeek has reportedly put him on the market, and with a strong prospect pool at forward in Anaheim, it seems inevitable.
The problem is that the Ducks' GM will undoubtedly ask for a high price for his forward. Zegras still has two years left on his contract, so there's no rush.
Many fans in Montreal would love to see Zegras with the Canadiens, but Kent Hughes might not be as interested as people would hope.
According to a survey by The Athletic, Zegras is considered the most overrated player in the NHL. Clearly, he is not regarded by his peers as highly as fans perceive him, and that's noteworthy.
NHL executives are well-informed today, and players are scrutinized closely. Knowing this, it would be surprising if Hughes paid a hefty price, even though the Bell Centre could use a player capable of putting on a spectacular show.
