Huge lack of respect from the Coyotes: absolutely no class for the NHL

The Arizona Coyotes ended their story on a good note by defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 at the Mullet Arena on Wednesday night.

However, a significant piece of the organization was missing for this game: none other than Alex Meruelo, the team's owner, who was conspicuously absent.

Immediately, people started saying that he's just eager to cash his check and get rid of it all. It's very poor form for an owner not to be present at the final game of their franchise. It speaks volumes.

TVA Sports commentator Sébastien Goulet added another layer regarding the organization, and it's truly pathetic.

Shane Doan's jersey was retired by the organization at the Gila River Arena in 2019. When they had to leave the building and relocate due to a disagreement with the city, they didn't take the banner with them.

The next part is even more shocking. Arena staff called the Coyotes to inform them, but there was no response or return call.

Doan's number 19 banner eventually ended up in the trash, and it was a fan who retrieved it to give it to Doan in person.

When we talk about a shoddy organization and lack of respect for a pillar of the franchise, it's hard to do much worse. It's simply ridiculous, and it was time for it to end.
