Macklin Celebrini with the Canadiens? We know where he wants to play
Macklin Celebrini will be the first overall pick in the upcoming draft, no doubt about it. The team that selects first will be lucky to have him.
For now, the Sharks hold the best ticket for the draft lottery, as they finished last in the NHL.
It would be a great story if the Sharks were to land him, especially since his father works for the Golden State Warriors.
"It would be amazing (for him to be drafted by the Sharks). We talk about it all the time.
We try not to get too ahead of ourselves because it's out of our control, and we really don't want to be disappointed either, but as a family, it would be incredible to have him here with us in the Bay where we could help and support him," said Rick Celebrini, Macklin's father, this week.
It's quite rare to hear a young player openly express a desire to play in a smaller market like that.
As fans of the Canadiens, we're fortunate to have an organization with a rich history that attracts many young players.
This time around, the Sharks have a clear advantage in bringing Celebrini close to his family. We wish them luck, even though we wouldn't be at all unhappy to see him end up in Montreal!
