The Los Angeles Kings acquired Pierre-Luc Dubois at a very high price last year, and they gave him a lot of money.

The big problem is that Dubois really didn't deliver. He had the chance to redeem himself in the playoffs, and he was invisible once again.

What's going on with Pierre-Luc Dubois?

The forward is so unrecognizable that Kings fans literally don't want him anymore. They hope his contract will be bought out or that he will be traded for a box of Sherwood sticks.

Rumors are swirling about a contract buyout, as nobody would want his contract with his performance. General Manager Rob Blake broke the silence on this possibility, and it's quite surprising.

"We need to get him better." - Rob Blake

The GM went further, confirming that he will not buy out Dubois' contract. And that's a good idea, as the penalty would be monstrous for the remaining 7 years.

Dubois collected a meager 40 points in 82 games, including 16 goals. In 5 playoff games, he scored 1 goal and committed a very costly penalty in his team's last game.

He was heavily blamed, and many fans squarely put the blame on him for that penalty. I must admit it was unnecessary, an act of frustration towards Leon Draisaitl.

Looking at Dubois' career, it's been quite inconsistent. It wouldn't be surprising if he bounced back with a 65-70 point season in 2024-25.
