Spectacular turnaround for Sidney Crosby and his end of career
When looking at what's happening in Pittsburgh, one can't help but think that it's officially over for them. They've tried to keep a competitive team over the past two seasons, but it's time to move on.
Rebuilding will be long and painful, but it's necessary. This thought sparks a strong reaction regarding Sidney Crosby's end of career, with many influential people suggesting he will be traded.
One of these rumors sends him to Toronto in exchange for Mitch Marner. There are others, but that's the one from the most credible source.
However, there's a twist in the story, as a first source claims that the captain will re-sign with the Penguins in July. But there's more.
Crosby would even sign at a discount to allow the management to sign more players. Excuse me?
"The Pittsburgh Penguins are expected to sign Sidney Crosby for the rest of his career on July 1st. Crosby may take a team deal to acquire players in the Free Agency." - NHL News Updates
This means that despite the obvious, the team would continue to try to win with the current core. They're delaying the rebuild once again.
It's a very significant statement. While it's understandable that Crosby would want to finish his career with the Penguins, the fact that the team still believes in a dream, an illusion of perhaps winning another Stanley Cup, is another matter.
