A Big Rumor Involving the Promising Yaroslav Askarov and the Canadiens Has Just Been Confirmed by Pierre LeBrun
While visiting BPM Sports, the TSN reporter, Pierre LeBrun, revealed very interesting information for the Montreal Canadiens fans.
In fact, LeBrun confirmed a rumor that circulated during the last draft, indicating that a discussion took place between Kent Hughes and his counterpart from the Nashville Predators, Barry Trotz, about a trade involving notably the 5th overall pick and the promising goaltender Yaroslav Askarov.

The journalist added confirmation that the CH and the Preds have spoken. However, he is not able to say whether the negotiation was serious or not, nor to confirm if the organization was really offering their two first-round picks, along with Askarov, for the Canadiens' 5th pick, as was heard behind the scenes of the draft.
However, there is a certainty. Hughes preferred to choose David Reinbacher rather than acquiring a potential elite goaltender like Askarov.
Do you think it was a good decision? It will take several years before we get the answer, but if the offer was only one for one, I prefer the selection of the defenseman over the acquisition of the Russian goaltender.
