It's always entertaining to share with you the best trade offers involving the Canadiens that have been brought up on social media. The Hockey Night in Montreal account is increasingly popular among Canadiens fans, as many interesting trades are proposed by it, creating very relevant discussions on the topic.
Remember, these proposals are just meant to provoke exciting debates among fans.
Here's one that has sparked a lot of reactions about a monster trade involving Thatcher Demko:
At the time of writing, with nearly 1,000 votes, 56% of fans would refuse the trade from the Canadiens' perspective. There's only a slim 14% who think the offer is good for both teams.
In my humble opinion, it's much too high a price to pay for a 27-year-old goaltender who had difficulties last year. Considering that the Habs would have to include Samuel Montembeault who might offer similar performances to Demko, I don't see the interest in the trade, especially if it also involves adding a first-round pick and two second-round picks.
I hardly see the point of taking an expensive gamble with Demko immediately, when one can still wait a year or two before making a decision on the future of Montembeault in the Canadiens' net.
The Quebec-born goalie is only 26 years old, he's not very expensive, and he might take a big step soon in his development, possibly assuming the role of starting goaltender for a few seasons. It's a definitive no from me.
Would you make this trade if you were the GM of the Canadiens?
