Allan Walsh breaks the silence on the possibility of Marc-André Fleury joining the Canadiens
On the occasion of the visit of goaltender Marc-André Fleury and the Minnesota Wild to Montreal, it's the perfect time to ask questions, including assessing the possibility of seeing the netminder with the Canadiens.
On BPM Sports airwaves, Martin Lemay welcomed Allan Walsh, who is Fleury's agent. Here's what he had to say:
"The only time Marc-André came close to becoming a free agent was after his trade from Chicago to Minnesota, and we ended up signing a two-year contract with the Wild at the draft.
Marc-André was five or six days away from becoming a free agent. At the time, we didn't discuss with any other club (other than Minnesota).
Marc-André and Bill Guerin (Wild's GM) have a very good relationship, and they are close. [...] Marc wanted to be in Minnesota."
- Allan Walsh
This means that if there have been rumors about Fleury and the Habs, they are undoubtedly false. Walsh is very close to his clients, and his statements are quite revealing.
