Indeed, in a video published on the team's Twitter account, we can see the former Tricolore forward, Paul Byron, addressing the organization's prospects during the development camp that took place earlier this week.
Let's just say it's rather strange to see him with the team when his contract ended last July 1st and he is currently an unrestricted free agent.
It should be noted that the 34-year-old veteran has only played 102 games over the past four seasons due to multiple injuries, having had to miss the entire 2022-2023 season.
Given his injury history, it is very unlikely that Kent Hughes would offer him a contract extension for the upcoming year, as he simply no longer has a place in Martin St-Louis' lineup.
We are therefore entitled to wonder why Paul Byron was present with the team this week. Could the former forward be offered a position within the organization? It's a possibility that seems increasingly plausible.
One thing is certain, many clues suggest that the former CH forward will remain with the organization in a management role.
This would undoubtedly be excellent news! There is no doubt that Byron could play a very important role with the young Canadiens players!
In 413 games with the Tricolore, the former number 41 scored 81 goals and made 79 assists (160 points), and added 10 points in 38 playoff games.
