Whether it be through trade or on the free agent market, the general manager of the Canadiens will undoubtedly seek to strengthen his lineup in order to allow Martin St. Louis's men to fight for a playoff spot.
During his appearance on Hockey 360, former NHL player Bruno Gervais made a rather interesting statement regarding a player who could possibly interest the Canadiens. According to him, Kent Hughes should try to sign Quebecer forward, Alex Killorn, to come and support the many young players in the lineup.
The 33-year-old forward shows no signs of slowing down, having just had his best season in his career with a harvest of 27 goals and 37 assists (64 points) in 82 games.
Although the idea is interesting if Killorn is ready to accept a deal for two or three seasons, it would be very surprising if that happened. This is probably the last big contract that the power forward can receive, and he will undoubtedly be looking for a long-term deal.
Under such conditions, the Canadiens would be better off trying to find a younger player who can fit into the rebuilding process started by the team.
