Things are shaking up with the Canadiens: Kent Hughes is also reportedly in discussion to obtain the second overall pick
In the past few hours, Alexandre Gascon reported that the general manager of the Canadiens, Kent Hughes, is currently in discussion with his counterpart from the San Jose Sharks to finalize a trade to move up in the draft.
However, Arpon Basu from The Athletic has just confirmed a major news about the intentions of the Canadiens. Indeed, according to his information, Kent Hughes has also contacted the general manager of the Ducks to inquire about the price to pay for the second overall pick.
One thing is certain, the general manager of the Tricolore is very active on the trade market right now and he seems to want to acquire a pick among the top four selections.
"They are trying to make a trade with the Sharks for the #4 pick, but they have also contacted the Anaheim Ducks to inquire about acquiring the 2nd overall pick." - Arpon Basu
This information confirms the discussions suggesting that the Canadiens were not really interested in drafting the young Russian phenomenon Matvei Michkov. The Canadiens seem to want to acquire a center player at all costs while Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson, and Will Smith should respectively be selected between the second and fourth rank.
Wow! Will Kent Hughes be able to hit a home run by moving up in the draft?
This will be a file to watch very closely over the next two weeks!
