An ultimatum for the Canadiens regarding the contract extension of Samuel Montembeault
A few months ago, we were eager for Cole Caufield to sign his contract extension. This summer, we were anticipating Kent Hughes to trade Jeff Petry and Casey DeSmith.
Currently, we are eager for the GM to sign Samuel Montembeault to trade a goaltender, as these two matters are intertwined. However, things are still up in the air.
We have no reason to doubt Kent Hughes, as his patience has paid off since taking office. Nonetheless, fans and probably Montembeault himself are very eager for this to be resolved.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Canadiens have given themselves until the trade deadline to settle this, which is until March 8th.
So, it looks like it might take a while before this matter is resolved. If the delay continues, it's quite possible that Kent Hughes will simply decide to trade him. Stay tuned...
