Another coup in the making for Kent Hughes? He will have the opportunity to acquire another first-round pick with David Savard
Currently, the Canadiens are far from being excluded from the playoffs. They are only two points away from a spot, and all hopes are still alive.
Nevertheless, the watchword remains the same for Kent Hughes, and the reconstruction plan continues. Even though David Savard is a crucial player in the current lineup, he might be on the move at the trade deadline.
According to Craig Button, a deal involving the right-handed defenseman could be a real home run for Kent Hughes. Savard would be worth at least a first-round pick.
Looking just at the Ben Chiarot trade, it eventually allowed the Canadiens to acquire Alex Newhook. Imagine the long-term impact of another similar transaction.
Recall that the initial Chiarot trade was for Ty Smilanic, a first-round pick, and a fourth-round pick. With another similar trade, Kent Hughes could significantly enhance his team in the long run.
