A significant wave of youth is set to emerge within the Montreal Canadiens organization this year, as several young players will be transitioning to professional hockey.

This could potentially be one of the largest groups to make the jump to the pros simultaneously in decades. Among them are Logan Mailloux, Riley Kidney, Joshua Roy, Sean Farrell, Jayden Struble, Filip Mesar, Miguël Tourigny, and Jared Davidson. While some of them have already played a few games, this will be their first full year.

Among all these names, two stand out, Farrell, who has already played a few NHL games, and Roy.

Due to the fact that the main team already has 14 players competing for the 12 available spots in the regular lineup, the possibility of seeing both rookies in the Canadiens' first game of the season seems almost impossible.

However, an 82-game season is quite long, and considering the injury history in recent years with the Canadiens, there's a good chance that openings will arise during the season.

Considering that the former Sherbrooke Phoenix player is possibly not far down the forward hierarchy, as he might be in competition with Farrell and Heineman among the young call-ups from the Rocket, it would not be entirely impossible to see the Quebec native play a few games with the main team this year.

He will need to focus on his transition to the AHL, but if he manages to adapt quickly to the level of play, which he certainly has the talent to do, his name could be in the mix when recalls are made by the Canadiens.

The young man, who just turned 20 on August 6th, joins the pros after two exceptional junior seasons. He accumulated 51 goals and 119 points in 66 games in 2022, and he nearly replicated those statistics in 2023 with a record of 46 goals and 99 points in 55 games. He maintained the same average of goals and points per game, while also focusing more on his defensive play, adding a very interesting element to his on-ice effectiveness.

We are eager to see his progress at the Canadiens' training camp in September, especially since he's regarded as the top prospect of the club according to TSN expert, Craig Button.
