Carter Hart in Montreal? Kent Hughes has just broken the silence and it's very clear
In a very interesting article published today on The Athletic by journalists Marc-Antoine Godin and Arpon Basu, we learned a significant piece of news related to one of the hot issues currently in the NHL, that of goaltender Carter Hart.
We learned that General Manager Kent Hughes has already made his decision about the young goaltender. He reportedly told his team that he would not be acquiring him.
The 24-year-old goalie could be seen as an interesting option since he is still improving and has a chance of becoming one of the good goalies in the NHL. But even though the age curve and the Canadiens' desire to improve in front of the net could make Hart an interesting option, the organization has decided that it will not pursue this avenue. The motivation behind this choice is not clear, but the situation has been described to us as 'untenable.

For those who would have liked to see the arrival of the promising young 24-year-old goalie, you will therefore have to forget about this possibility, as Godin's sources are very credible.
This is therefore a huge vote of confidence for the Quebecer Samuel Montembeault, who now knows that he is the man for the job in front of the team's net, at least for the next season without a doubt.
By not being interested in Hart, this gives more clues about the Canadiens' game plan. It is becoming increasingly clear that Hughes will most likely select a goalie early in the draft, possibly with his second-round pick, and he will bet on Montembeault's progress in the short term, but also on the potential emergence of Cayden Primeau.
In truth, it's not a bad option, as Monty proved some good things last year, as well as at the recent World Championship where he was excellent.
It should also be added that Hart has not yet proven that he could be a consistent goalie in the NHL, so why pay a high price to acquire him?
