Major development concerning Pierre-Luc Dubois: Kent Hughes has reportedly already contacted the Jets
In an article published on the The Athletic site, Arpon Basu and Marc Antoine Grondin have just revealed major information in the Pierre-Luc Dubois case, and it involves the Canadiens.
As rumors intensify greatly since the Quebecer declared he would not sign a new contract with the Jets, the two journalists have confirmed that the general manager of the Canadiens, Kent Hughes, has already contacted Kevin Cheveldayoff to inquire about the price to pay to acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois.
"Dubois' camp will provide a list of teams with which the Quebec forward would be interested in signing a long-term agreement.
We're talking about maybe five or six teams. Obviously, Brisson will have to assess the willingness of these organizations to integrate Dubois and his new contract before adding them to the list.
The Canadiens, who contacted the Jets as soon as they were eliminated, will be part of it." - The Athletic
Things are heating up behind the scenes of the NHL!
Raphaël Doucet reported this morning that we should expect a transaction to be completed before the draft and so we can now affirm with certainty that the Canadiens will be in the race to secure the services of the 24-year-old forward.
According to the latest information received by Arpon Basu and Marc Antoine Grondin, the forward wants to find some stability and does not intend to test the free agent market next summer. Indeed, Pierre-Luc Dubois wants to sign an 8-year deal in order to be traded in a famous sign and trade.
"By proceeding with a 'sign and trade' which the Jets would endorse, Dubois would be able to secure an eight-year pact with his new team." - The Athletic
Will Kent Hughes manage to get his hands on the center player in the coming days? Although the wait seems interminable, an announcement should be made very soon.
