Similar to the Florida Panthers, the Senators aren't masters in their building when the Habs visit. It may seem insulting, but for the financial well-being of these teams, it's a necessary evil.
What is truly insulting, however, is when the organization taunts Canadiens fans who leave their establishment early before the end of the game. Indeed, with a score of 6-2, the Habs were never in contention on Thursday night.
The Sens posted a video to mock departing Habs fans, but they should have shown a little more restraint. The word got around, and they have since deleted the post. The Florida Panthers, despite being criticized for not presenting the bilingual Canadian national anthem, did not taunt the Habs at all, despite a resounding defeat for the visitors.
Yes, their team dominated, but that's no reason to taunt a team that helps you financially, especially when the Habs are far ahead in the standings while they are in the midst of a rebuild and the Sens are supposed to be in playoff mode.
It's very embarrassing on the part of the National Capital organization.
