Elias Pettersson with the Montreal Canadiens? Eric Engels weighs in, and it would be a bold move by Kent Hughes
Star player Elias Pettersson and the Vancouver Canucks are not on good terms at the moment. The team's general manager, Patrik Allvin, mentioned that his forward was not yet certain if he wanted to stay with the team, so the team is not certain if they want to offer him the moon.
The big issue is that the Swede will be a restricted free agent at the end of the current season, so he won't be available for free. When asked about the possibility of Kent Hughes acquiring him, Eric Engels was quite clear.
"If he ends up being availableand I'm not sure how he would be as an rfathey and close to 30 other teams would have to consider it."
- Eric Engels
Not only the Canadiens, but nearly all teams would be interested. That's how special a player Pettersson is. As for the Canadiens, Kent Hughes might believe in his chances, as he has assets to trade in return, in addition to having a good relationship with Allvin.
A situation to keep an eye on, but imagine if Pettersson lands in Montreal! It would significantly accelerate the rebuilding process!
