Finally, a door opening for Patrick Roy? A head coach has been fired, and we know his replacement
Patrick Roy has been in the Ottawa rumor mill for months. The arrival of the new owner, Michael Andlauer, weighed heavily, but players and interim general manager Steve Staios expressed their support for DJ Smith in recent days.
So, it's status quo once again, and Patrick remains waiting for a call from an NHL team. It turns out that a head coach has just lost his job, and it's Jay Woodcroft in Edmonton.
That was enough to reignite rumors about Roy, but it's the head coach of the Wolf Pack, their AHL affiliate, who is making the jump to the NHL.
So, the rumors can immediately stop, and Patrick will have to wait again. His time will surely come, but teams are still hesitant to hire him. When he returns to the NHL, he will have to prove that others were wrong to turn their backs on him.
