Major last-minute development regarding Samuel Montembeault's upcoming contract
With his recent performances, more than ever, fans want the Canadiens to reach an agreement with goaltender Samuel Montembeault.
We know that the goaltender has mentioned several times his desire to stay in Montreal long term, and Kent Hughes also seems interested in keeping him with the team.
However, negotiations haven't been as fast as hoped, as it was believed that this deal could have been settled before the start of the season.
There is some news, though, and it comes from insider Elliotte Friedman.
"Elliotte Friedman just mentioned that negotiations between #CH and Samuel Montembeault on a contract extension are going well currently.
I expect a contract of 3-4 seasons with an annual salary between 3 and 4 million."
- Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
Would you like Monty to sign for four years and 15 million? It would stabilize the goaltending position with the Canadiens for the first time since Carey Price was healthy.
