Imminent return of Patrick Roy to the NHL: Huge statement from Claude Giroux and the Ottawa Senators
With the recent struggles of the Ottawa Senators and the firing of Pierre Dorion a few days ago, rumors about Patrick Roy's arrival with the team are intensifying.
Recall that the new team owner, Michael Andlauer, is reportedly very close to Roy and may be his choice to replace DJ Smith. Another name circulating is Claude Julien, but Patrick Roy could just as easily be named as the general manager.
For the head coaching position, Claude Giroux had something to say on behalf of all his teammates. They do not want a change, and he said it loudly:
"He's our coach, he's not going anywhere. We want to play for him."
- Claude Giroux
The players will now have to turn their words into action because the hockey they have been offering lately is not very solid, at least not at the desired level in Ottawa.
So, an announcement regarding Patrick Roy should not be expected anytime soon, at least not as a coach.
