It is now confirmed for Samuel Montembeault and the Montreal Canadiens
There have been rumors for the past few days that Kent Hughes and Samuel Montembeault are currently in negotiations for his next contract.
It's known that, for Sam, it would have been settled a long time ago. It's rather the GM who is not in a hurry to resolve the matter. Perhaps he wants to make sure that the goalie is really a guy with a .910 save percentage as he is currently demonstrating, and not in the .800s as is the case in his career.
Nevertheless, in a post-game interview on Tuesday night, Monty confirmed this rumor. The two parties are indeed in talks right now.
"Sam Montembeault says nothing immediately imminent on the contract extension, but confirmed talks are happening and he's hoping to sign."
- Eric Engels
We knew Montembeault was on the right path, and many fans and analysts have been "advising" Kent Hughes to sign him as soon as possible so that he costs less. With the way number 35 is playing right now, waiting will only make it more expensive.
