Sean Monahan sends a very clear message to Kent Hughes and the Canadiens
It was a pleasant surprise to see that Kent Hughes managed to extend Sean Monahan for one year. While we thought he might test the free-agent market, he signed at a discount.
At $1.9 million, he is giving us a performance well beyond what we expected. Now, Kent Hughes has a decision to make, either to trade him at the deadline or extend him again.
If he stays healthy, his value will be very high, but he is exactly the type of veteran that the young players need in the locker room and on the ice.
The player himself has sent a clear message to Kent Hughes, as his desire seems quite apparent:
Sean Monahan on getting a fresh start with the #Habs: "I was hurt, now I'm healthy; I'm enjoying it again. Hockey sucked for a while for me and now coming to rink is fun again, playing the games and enjoying every second of it - it's a lot of fun to play here in Montreal."
- Sean Monahan
It can be said that if it were up to Monahan alone, he would probably sign an extension. This is not the first time he has shown his love for Montreal and the Canadiens, and he demonstrates it every time he steps on the ice.
