Jake Allen made a surprising statement regarding the acquisition of Casey DeSmith
Kent Hughes took everyone by surprise by involving himself in the major transaction between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the San Jose Sharks. Indeed, in order for the Pens to acquire the Norris Trophy recipient, the Canadiens agreed to take on the contracts of Jeff Petry and Casey DeSmith.

Even though his position is potentially at risk, Allen seems at peace with the organization's decision, even seeming excited about the potential internal competition between him, Samuel Montembeault, and Casey DeSmith at the next training camp.

We are greatly surprised to see Jake Allen react in this way when this trade might force him to have played his last game in the Canadiens' uniform. However, it's very encouraging to see that he is ready to fight to keep his spot in Martin St. Louis's lineup.
One thing is certain, if Kent Hughes is unable to trade a goalie before the start of training camp, a heated battle is likely to emerge with the Canadiens.
