Kent Hughes has a golden opportunity to acquire a first-round pick for free with forward Liam Foudy
With Kirby Dach's season-ending injury, Kent Hughes will ultimately have no choice but to make a call-up or acquire another forward.
Sometimes, timing can be surprising, as there is currently a former first-round pick available for free on waivers. Liam Foudy, the 18th overall pick in 2018, is a very fast center who could be claimed by Hughes.
He fits the profile of a player that the Canadiens' GM likes. Foudy is 23 years old and is simply waiting for a chance with another NHL team.
This is the Canadiens' opportunity to acquire their next Alex Newhook or Kirby Dach. Foudy may not be as productive as the other two, but he has the physical attributes and skills to become a much better player than what we've seen from him in Columbus.
