Kent Hughes just missed the opportunity to add a young, fast player to his lineup by not claiming Liam Foudy off waivers
It was yesterday that we learned the 18th overall pick in the 2018 draft, Liam Foudy, was placed on waivers by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
He is a center perfectly suited for a team like the Canadiens due to his exceptional speed. Unfortunately, his development hasn't gone as smoothly in Columbus, and a change of scenery could be beneficial for him.
Kent Hughes had the means to claim him, but he chose to pass. In the end, it was the Nashville Predators who claimed him, just after the Canadiens in the waiver order.
The Canadiens have depth at center, but they are only one injury to Nick Suzuki or Sean Monahan away from a potentially difficult situation. With Kirby Dach sidelined for the entire season, many believed Kent Hughes would have claimed Foudy.
