Kent Hughes looks like a genius with this last-minute pre-season trade involving Tanner Pearson
It was during the training camp that Kent Hughes finally traded Casey DeSmith, resolving the goaltending issue. Forward Tanner Pearson was the one going the other way.
At first, everyone was convinced that the forward would be just passing through Montreal, and there was even speculation that he might never play a game in the blue, white, and red uniform. The decision to keep him with the team instead of a young player was also met with some skepticism.
Nevertheless, he has made quite an impact, even leading in goals with three and points with five before the game against the Blue Jackets.
In the end, it's turning out to be a fantastic acquisition that makes Kent Hughes look very good. Furthermore, if Pearson stays healthy and continues to produce at a good pace, he will undoubtedly attract attention at the trade deadline and could provide an unexpected return for the Canadiens.
