Kent Hughes made a serious mistake by letting go of a forward who belonged to the Montreal Canadiens
This summer, there were a lot of movements on the Laval side, with several players leaving and others arriving. The announcements of signings and departures were quite numerous.
While players like Anthony Richard and Alex Belzile decided on their own to leave, it's a different story for Pierrick Dubé. Kent Hughes let him go after an interesting season with 32 points, including 14 goals in 44 games with the Rocket.
Dubé has since signed with the Capitals organization and is playing with the Hershey Bears, their AHL affiliate. He now has 17 goals and 22 points in 31 games, leading the AHL in goals.
"The AHL's top scorer is Pierrick Dubé. He scored his 17th of the season tonight for the Hershey Bears. Too bad we let him go." - Anthony Marcotte
At just 22 years old, Dubé was a promising prospect for the Canadiens. All signs indicated that he could get even better, but the organization decided otherwise.
The Rocket could really use a goal-scorer like him, and ultimately, perhaps the Canadiens too. With a relatively weak offensive pipeline, Kent Hughes should not make these kinds of mistakes too often.
